SUGAR BOWL
More Fun and Less Hassle
By Jennie Barlett
Sugar Bowl is "more fun and less hassle" than any other resort in Tahoe because we recognize and remain true to our heritage and the roots of skiing and snowboarding. We attract dedicated skiers and boarders by offering the perfect blend of amenities, terrain and service. With 1,500 acres of skiable terrain and five express quads accessing four mountain peaks, you'll be finding lines rather than standing in them!
Whatever you are into, you'll find plenty of it at Sugar Bowl. Our mountain offers 17 percent beginner, 45 percent intermediate, and 38 percent advanced terrain, two progressive terrain parks, a dedicated learning zone and a half pipe. We are converting our Pacific Crest Trail and part of Tunnel 41 runs into a Terrain Park Fun Zone. All runs off Mount Judah will now offer different terrain features for everyone to enjoy. You will now be able to style out your lines with a mix of jumps, rails, and rollers. Each day spent in the park will leave you with a smile and sense of improvement in your park riding skills. Safety is our main concern: our park crew will be out and about promoting the "Smart Style" code.
Here at Sugar Bowl you will find great powder, incredible groomers and great attitudes. Our resort offers a comfortable feeling because we attract like-minded skier and boarder enthusiasts. We offer an easy trip to the mountain, located just off Interstate 80 and just a quarter-tank closer to Tahoe Basin than other resorts. You will be on the mountain while others are still driving to the mountain. Mount Judah offers slope-side parking and quick access to fresh tracks. That means you will get more value from your day trip.
The Lodge at Sugar Bowl is a snowbound experience you will want to enjoy. Our rooms open to a balcony with a pure view of Mount Disney. You will experience a ski-in, ski-out vacation, with the lifts just steps away from your room. When you stay with us, you will relax and enjoy your time away. Park in our convenient covered parking garage, load your personal gondola car, and have your luggage brought to your room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at one of our best-kept secrets: the Four Peak restaurant.
If you are looking for the luxury and privacy of a home, then visit with our Property Rental Management Team. We offer a variety of different-style homes, which are located in our snowbound village. Here you will enjoy all the conveniences of your home away from home. Our Property Management Team is here to make your stay more enjoyable, from arranging your transportation, pre-purchasing all of your grocery needs, booking a babysitter, dog sitter, to even renting a hot tub for your weekend getaway!
Moving into the 2008-09 winter season, Sugar Bowl continues to reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing 100 percent wind power for all of our resort's needs, using green cleaning supplies in all facilities and recycling throughout the resort. In our main office you will find a place to recycle printer cartridges, cell phones and batteries as well as paper, cardboard and plastic. All of our beer cups or mugs are completely biodegradable or washable and reusable and all of the plastic and paper cups used at the resort are 100 percent biodegradable or recyclable. With our rich heritage and history in mind, our environmental efforts of today ensure a sustainable future of skiing at Sugar Bowl for all to enjoy, for generations to come.
Sugar Bowl is located on Donner Summit, 3 miles off I-80. It is the closest major resort on the western front of the Sierras, offering convenient, easy access from San Francisco (three hours), Sacramento (two hours) and Reno (45 minutes). This friendly resort offers the most convenient location, deepest snowfall and diverse terrain. So what are you waiting for? Get up here and enjoy the mountain! And visit www.sugarbowl.com.
