The 2012 SAP Open, the premier men's professional tennis tournament in Northern California, returns to HP Pavilion at San Jose Feb. 13-19.

Already scheduled to play are defending SAP Open singles champion Milos Raonic of Canada, SAP ambassador and Canada's No. 1 player. He will join three-time SAP Open singles champion and SAP Ambassador Andy Roddick of the United States and world's seventh-ranked Gael Monfils of France in the singles field of players. Additionally, American tennis legend John McEnroe will headline a doubles exhibition match on Feb. 13. All players are subject to change.

Fast-rising tennis sensation Raonic, 20, returns to the 2012 SAP Open as the tournament's defending singles champion. In the 2011 final, the big-hitting Raonic used his powerful serve and big ground game to stun defending SAP Open champion Fernando Verdasco of Spain 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) to capture his first-ever ATP World Tour title. Prior to his appearance at the 2011 SAP Open, Raonic had never been past the quarterfinals of an ATP World Tour event. Raonic, who was born in Montenegro but lives in Canada, is the top-ranked Canadian player on the ATP World Tour.

Returning to the 2012 SAP Open for the 10th time in his career and the first time since 2010 is three-time tournament champion and Bay Area fan favorite Andy Roddick. Roddick, 29, last captured the SAP Open title in 2008, when he defeated Radek Stepanek from the Czech Republic 6-4, 7-5. He also captured SAP Open singles titles in 2005, defeating C. Saulnier of France 6-0, 6-4, and in 2004 when he beat American Mardy Fish 7-6 (13), 6-4. Roddick reached the final in 2010, losing to eventual champion Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.

Roddick is a former U.S. Open champion, having captured the 2003 title when he defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain 6-3, 7-6 (2), 6-3. A native of Omaha, Neb., Roddick currently resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, actress and swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker.

Currently ranked seventh in the South African Airways ATP singles rankings is 24-year-old tennis superstar Gael Monfils of France. The year 2012 will mark only the second time that Monfils will play at the SAP Open since turning pro in 2004. Monfils is one of the most exciting and creative players on the ATP World Tour. In his singles career, Monfils has captured three singles titles (Montpellier 2010, Metz 2009 and Sopot 2007), amassed more than 200 singles victories and earned more than $5 million in prize money. Monfils is a native of Paris who lives in Trelex, Switzerland.

Former Stanford star, NCAA champion and tennis legend McEnroe will appear at the 2012 SAP Open in a Monday-night doubles exhibition match. McEnroe, who last played at the SAP Open in 2006, when he captured the final doubles title of his career with teammate Jonas Bjorkman, owns 77 singles titles and 78 doubles titles in his career, an ATP World Tour record. McEnroe's partner — and opponents — in the exhibition will be announced at a later date. The doubles exhibition match is set to take place Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.

The 2012 SAP Open will be played at HP Pavilion at San Jose Feb. 13-19. Ticket packages and group tickets are available by calling 408-ACE-2121. Additional information about the SAP Open can be found on the tournament website at sapopentennis.com.
