About Us
Christopher Weills, founder, has an extensive publishing background dating back to the 1960s when he published a counter-culture magazine in San Francisco. In the 1970s he published The Goodfellow Catalog of Wonderful Things, a mail order catalog of handcrafted items that earned him and the editor, Sarah Satterlee, a guest appearance on Good Morning America and feature articles in major national newspapers.
In 1985 he entered sports publishing with the Bay Sports Review, a highly regarded publication covering professional and amateur sports for the San Francisco Bay Area. Christopher is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz and a 30-year resident of Berkeley. Twin daughters Selina and Chloe are also East Bay residents and Christopher recently became the proud grandfather of Sadie Kit Sprenkle and Zander Moon Satterlee-King. email
Paul Matson, principal, is director of marketing and advertising and a licensed fishing therapist. Affiliated with Bay Sports Publishing since its inception, he is now in retirement after serving as a four-term mayor and 20-year city councilman for a small Sierra foothill town. Possibly the only licensed fishing therapist in the western United States, Paul is the founder of the BSR Fishing Counseling Center. email
Tom Stern, writer-copy editor. Tom's road to Bay Sports Publishing was full of twists and turns. At age 22, fresh out of college, he found himself teaching high school English in southern Wisconsin. Two years later he moved to the Bay Area to seek his fortune in music. For eight years he toured the country in a band that opened for the likes of the New Riders of the Purple Sage and Jerry Garcia. After that, he produced 17 albums, including two that were nominated for BAMMIES (Bay Area Music Awards). As middle age loomed, Stern turned to journalism and in two years had won a national award for his book reviews.
Michael Behrens, art director/production manager, has over 10 years experience in print design. Michael creates all of BSP's publications and gives each of our customers a very distinctive, professional look. Michael lives with his wife, Monica, and two children, Max and Emma in Richmond, CA. email
Ann Cooke, client services manager for Bay Sports Publishing and the Ultimate Sports Guide, is in the business of connections. She graduated from Purdue University and moved from her roots in Wisconsin to California to pursue her career in sales and marketing. Her employment history includes working for both the Oakland Athletics Baseball Company and the Oakland Raiders football team. In addition to her current employment as a staffing professional for Certified Employment Group, Ann devotes several hours a week to the Ultimate Sports Guide. Her goal is to connect sports venues and products with avid Northern California sports fans and readers. Ann is a passionate student of the Law of Attraction and consistently uses her knowledge to help others find their best connections in life. Ann may be contacted directly at 510-414-5394. email
